After breakfast, begin your journey through ancient Egypt with a visit to the legendary Giza Plateau, home to the last remaining wonder of the ancient world.
The Giza Pyramids Complex, built over 4,500 years ago, includes the three main pyramids, several smaller pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple. These extraordinary monuments were constructed as royal tombs for Egypt’s pharaohs and continue to amaze visitors from around the world.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest and most famous of the pyramids. Built around 2580 BC, it originally stood at nearly 147 metres tall and remained the tallest man-made structure on Earth for thousands of years. Its impressive scale and mysterious design still fascinate historians and archaeologists today.
Standing guard beside the pyramids is the Great Sphinx, one of Egypt’s most recognisable symbols. With the body of a lion and the face believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre, the Sphinx has long symbolised strength, wisdom, and royal power.
Nearby, visit the Valley Temple, where ancient purification and mummification rituals are thought to have taken place. The temple remains remarkably well preserved and features enormous limestone and granite blocks.
Continue your tour with a visit to the spectacular Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), one of the largest archaeological museums in the world. Overlooking the pyramids, the museum houses thousands of priceless artefacts spanning thousands of years of Egyptian civilisation, including the treasures of Tutankhamun, the Hanging Obelisk, and the colossal statue of Ramses II.
After lunch at a local restaurant, travel to Saqqara to explore the Step Pyramid of Djoser — the world’s first pyramid and the earliest known large-scale stone structure. Designed by the architect Imhotep, this revolutionary monument marked the beginning of pyramid construction in ancient Egypt.
